Abstract

Nowadays, Social Work is required a special attention as a new type of professional activity, and the formation of a specialist’s personality in the field of Social Work presents a variety of different requirements for his/her personality and professional qualities. Reflection acts as one of the professional and personality factor, which provides the ability to evaluate activity from the perspective of success prospects, self-monitoring, analysis of the process and its results, find new resources; adjust the professional activity according to different norms, be responsible for the supposed results, predict its consequences for oneself and others, promote self-development and development of reflection in clients of social services, etc.
The results of the empirical research were given, which showed the expediency of using A. Karpov’s methodology for considering the reflection as a professional and personal neoplasm in the formation of the personality of a Social Work specialist. The indicators and levels of employees' reflexivity have been investigated. The low and average level of reflexivity have been stated, which are the characteristics for Social Work specialists, the significant difficulties are encountered in the formation of reflexive abilities, ability to reflect, and this testifies to existing problems concerning self-control of specialist's behavior in actual situations, self-examination of professional activity, forecasting, etc. According to the results of the dispersion analysis, statistically significant differences were found regarding the reflexivity of Social Work specialists, depending on gender, age and stages of professional development. In particular, the indicator of reflexivity, in general, is constantly growing at all stages of the professional development of the personality of Social Work specialists, which is conditioned by the peculiarities of personal and professional formation, acquisition of professional experience, satisfaction of the needs for self-development, self-improvement and self-realization of the personality of a specialist as a professional, socio-economic factors, because professional formation involves the acquisition of age-old qualitative peculiarity and maturity. Regarding the features of the reflexivity of specialists, depending on gender and age, in women, it constantly grows throughout the formation, and due to men, the features of the reflexivity tend to the variability of periods of growth and decrease, but generally increase. Consequently, the reflection in the process of becoming a personality of Social Work specialist contributes to the formation of skills to manage their own actions, to independently evaluate their own capabilities, to determine professional tasks, plans for their decisions, to analyze the results, to reflect on their own professional activities, that is, the development of reflection as a professional-personal neoplasm undergoes the constant influence of biological, psychological and social factors and accompanies the whole process of becoming a personality of Social Work specialist, stimulates the self-realization as a professional.
