Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of development of personality stress tolerance in the aspect of clinical psychology. The ability to cope with stress is an important condition for personal adaptation. Disadaptation and disintegration of personality is the subject for studying by clinical psychologists. The key emphasis of the study is to confirm the hypothesis that the achievement of integration is the basis for the development of personality stress tolerance and personal adaptation in modern society.

The author presents the path to the development of personality stress tolerance as a movement pattern - from oneself to others. The article notes that in most cases, the development of personality stress tolerance must begin with changing the negative mechanisms of personal protection to successful strategies for mastering inappropriate emotional response in critical situations. Adequate personal protection in stress contributes to the development of stress resistance, and disbalance of the prescribed function - neurotization.

Integration is considered as the initial stage and objective of the psychotherapeutic process. The author describes two types of integration: internal and external. Internal integration is the achievement of integrity in the internal plan of personality introversion at the initial stage of stress tolerance development. The development process of integrated personality structure requires a system approach. Therefore, the author identifies four components of personal stress resistance and noted the sequence of their development: psychophysiological, emotional, cognitive and integrated. Psychophysiological balance creates a basic platform for achieving emotional peace and finding opportunities for more successful selection of cognitive response strategies in critical situations. The final stage of psychotherapy is the achievement of external integration - adaptation to other people on the basis of communicative values.

It leads to better understanding how the biological and psychological components of person's stress resistance are combined. The author also carries out a theoretical analysis of various approaches in application of assistance psychotherapeutic methods in stressful situations of psychological and biological origin.
